Valuation
The starting point for many assignments is a business valuation. Utilizing historical financial and operational information, a valuation is produced. Our analysis provides much more than just a conclusion of value. The balance sheet is analyzed and any issues are identified and discussed. The historical business operations are also reviewed for trends in revenue and expense that may be impacting the profitability and value of the company. Our observations and conclusions will be shared via an interactive video call followed up with a written report.
Business Succession
Business succession starts with a valuation and then goes much further to incorporate the analysis required to evaluate potential succession strategies. This includes an honest discussion of goals, opportunities and risks to develop the best plan for each individual client. These discussions often include the accountant and/or attorney of the client. We review all debt, liabilities, and other expenses that may need to be paid at the time of transfer. The remaining assets may be subject to tax and an estimate of net proceeds is produced. The existing structure of the business entity and the desires of the client will guide us in producing the best business succession plan possible based upon current tax law and potential changes. Some clients are interested in implementing transfers immediately while others want a plan in place for events that are years or even decades in the future. Our observations and conclusions will be shared via an interactive video call followed up with a written report.
Sales and Transfers
When the business succession conclusion is to begin a transfer process, we are ready to help the client achieve their goal. This may be a simple transfer from a parent to child or a sale to a key person or manager in the business. This can also be an active representation that markets the business to a client approved list of potential successors, helps buyers understand value, negotiates the transaction, responds to due diligence requests and works with your attorney and accountant to reach a successful and satisfactory conclusion. Discretion and confidentiality are paramount when contemplating a transfer and our process keeps the transaction private.
Acquisitions and Financing
Should your business plan include growing through expansion, we can assist with that process. This can be a limited scope assignment involving a small number of client identified acquisition targets or a significant city/state/regional search based upon the parameters provided by the client. Financing is a critical step in the expansion and ongoing operation of a growing business. We work with multiple sources to get competitive offers from banks that understand funeral service.
